The Social & Community Participation grant supports community organisations to become more inclusive of people with disability. The objective of the grant is to support people with disability, their families and carers to participate, contribute and benefit from mainstream community activities including arts, culture, sport and recreation.

Eligible activities may include though are not limited to

  • Support for community organisations to become more inclusive of people with disability, their families and carers, for example activities that improve awareness of, community access for, and communication with, people with disability.
  • Projects that improve or reshape community services and activities to meet the needs of people with disability, for example activities that
      • offer guidance/auditing on the accessibility of local businesses
      • enable greater participation in community activities such as sports, arts, cultural and recreational activities
      • enhance accessibility to community activities through the use of technical supports and digital technologies

Eligible expenditure includes the short-term engagement of consultants to develop resources, information technology and software costs.

The funding available for this grant opportunity is up to $50 million (GST exclusive) from FY23/24 to FY25/26 with individual grant amounts varying from $200,000 to $2 million. Applications for this grant close on 6 October 2023.

The Individual Capacity Building grant supports increased skills and knowledge for people with disability to understand disability rights, socially connect and develop meaningful relationships, navigate and connect with services and supports they need, enable greater independence, self-advocacy and decision making skills.

Eligible activities may include though are not limited to

  • developing and running new peer-to-peer activities for people with disability (including inperson, online, and/or via phone/teleconference)
  • providing information and training regarding disability rights and self-advocacy for people with disability
  • training and support for people with disability to better access and navigate disability and other systems

Similarly to the SCP grants, eligible expenditure for the ICB grants also includes the short-term engagement of consultants to develop resources, information technology and software costs.

The funding available for this grant opportunity is up to $90 million (GST exclusive) from FY24/25 to FY26/27 with individual grant amounts varying from $300,000 to $3 million. Applications for this grant close on 30 November 2023.
